While exploring Facebook for business applications, Rodney Romford suggests a great concept: Start at the End with an Application to lead consumer engagement. Design something absolutely incredible that you know your consumers will love–which by extension will get picked up, passed along, used and kept in start-pages, socialnetworks, blogs and on desktops. So many companies start with a product or brand that they try to make relevant to audiences. Perhaps the widget “diseconomy” or “deviralization” dynamic–when users drop your application faster than they adopted it and the search algorithms drive you down into near invisibility as a result–will eventually change the way marketers approach consumer insights the way it has transformed consumer behavior. Here’s the interview.
